Free Range Poultry
Poultry is cornerstone to the operation of our farm
and the health of the whole habitat.
We raise several broiler types of chickens - Freedom Rangers (red birds), White Rangers (white broilers), and sometimes Cornish Cross chickens (the waddling white chickens); Khaki Campbell ducks, and barnyard layers (mixed breed chickens). There is a trio of geese and a lone Bourbon Red turkey, as well.
With the exception of the Coturnix quail, ALL of the birds at
Providence Farm enjoy a completely free range life.
Sometimes it's a little messy, but a thriving habitat is a beautiful mess!

By taking advantage of the natural activities of the poultry - primarily foraging and pooping - the soil is fertilized, appropriately aerated, and harmful parasites and other insects (like ticks) are consumed by the birds.
Providing our birds with a free ranging life reduces stress and improves their overall health.

Livestock Guardian Dogs ensure the poultry is safe and unbothered as they go about their business, enjoying sunshine, fresh air and forage
