Our original Tunis represented old AnnaRae Hodgin's lines - medium sized
sheep that were pretty square with a wide, fat tail, outstanding parasite resistance, and superior mothering skills - while producing lovely fiber.
Those lines are tricky to find these days and modern day Tunis don't usually have the fat tail and are larger than their predecessors so it's pretty exciting when we have lambs that look like our originals.
Tunis are thrifty, easy button sheep with an interesting history in the USA; saved from extinction during the Civil War when they were being slaughtered to feed troops. It seems everyone kept Tunis sheep and for good reason: they are the triple threat! Fiber, meat, & milk production with wonderful dispositions, Tunis continue to be a wonderful addition to any homestead or farm.
