romeldale cvm

Read all about the lovely CVM Romeldale HERE at

The Livestock Conservancy's website.

We chose to raise CVM Romeldale sheep quite by accident.

After acquiring some ram lambs for grow out from a farm in

Georgia, we fell in love with everything about these animals.

Romeldale sheep come in two varieties with CVM standing for

California Variegated Mutation, and identified by the

"badger faced" coloring. Their fiber is low micron with some

animals producing Merino soft fleece.

CVM are docile sheep with great temperaments. They are

easy to handle despite sometimes being sizeable. Even our

herd sire ram, Cairo, is an easy button kind of guy.

The CVM join our Tunis sheep to graze a solar array on a local

organicfarm for about 6 months out of the year. This means the

farmer doesn't need to use fossil fuel burning equipment to keep

the acreage mown...and thesheep can put all that forage towards

producing carbon sequestering, renewable fiber.

Back at home, we move the flock around our farm, grazing fields, depositing manure that enriches

the soil, and pushes seed head into the ground with their low impact hooves.
